NEW DELHI:

The Kejriwal Government is working round the clock in the direction of making Delhi the national capital of electric vehicles. Focus is being laid on strengthening the Electric Vehicle infrastructure.

In order to not waste time in recharging the E-vehicles battery when it is exhausted, as well as to make the recharge process easy, the Delhi Government has decided to introduce Electric Vehicle Charging & Swapping in Patparganj, Bawana Industrial Area Sector-5 and Narela Sector-B.

Moreover, battery  swapping stations will also be set up with the objective to simplify the system of replacing the discharged battery of the e-vehicle with a fully charged battery.

This decision was taken in the board meeting of Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation on Wednesday.  On this occasion, Industries Minister Shri Satyendar Jain said that electric vehicles are our future because they can make Delhi pollution free. Charging and battery swapping stations will be set up at three more places in Delhi so that electric vehicle buyers do not face any problem in charging. For this, the sites have been identified by DSIIDC and the responsibility of installation of charging and battery swapping stations has been entrusted to DTL.

Driving an electric vehicle will be a hassle-free job

Industries Minister Satyendar Jain said, “in order to realise the vision of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal & make Delhi the capital of electric vehicles, the EV policy is being promoted rapidly in the city. A large number of people are also buying electric bikes and cars in Delhi. However, many times people remain skeptical about the charging of these vehicles hence they don’t take the risk of traveling far from electric vehicles. This is the biggest problem in front of them: where and how they will charge their car. In such a situation, to overcome the problems of the people, the Delhi Government is emphasising on the installation of charging and battery swapping stations. Once installed, these locations along with their real-time location and availability of charging points will also be available on the Delhi Government’s One Delhi app. Driving an electric vehicle will be a hassle-free task for the people.Just as petrol pumps are seen everywhere today, EV charging centers and swapping stations will also be seen everywhere in the coming times.”

E-charging and battery swapping stations will be built at these sites:

  1. Patparganj (Near Kia Motors)

 2.Bawana Industrial Area Sector-5

  1. Narela Sector-B

Battery swapping will happen within minutes at battery swapping stations

The electric vehicle policy was implemented by the Kejriwal government on August 7, 2020 with the aim to make Delhi the electric vehicle capital of the country. The main objective of this policy is to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in various segments, especially the range of two wheelers, public and goods carriers. Subsidy has also been given by the Kejriwal government on the purchase of electric vehicles.  Industries Minister Shri Satyendar Jain said that along with EV charging, battery swapping is being promoted equally in the Electric Vehicle Policy. Electric Vehicle Charging and Battery Swapping stations to be built at Patparganj, Bawana Industrial Area Sector-5 and Narela Sector-B will cater to the charging needs of vehicles of Delhiites. This will increase the trend of using electric vehicles among the people of the area and the residents will get relief from pollution. These centers will be quite modern, where the facility of charging vehicles and swapping batteries will also be available.  In two wheelers and three wheelers, the battery will be replaced here within minutes.

Roads will be improved in Mangolpuri Industrial Area.

In the board meeting of DSIIDC, a major decision was also taken regarding the maintenance of drains and roads in Mangolpuri Industrial Area. Industries Minister Shri Satyendar Jain said that the Delhi Government is committed to promote industrial development and ease of doing business.  The aim of the government is to bring back the industries affected due to Corona, as well as to create new employment opportunities for the youth. Delhi government will work towards making Mangolpuri Industrial Area Phase-1 green, clean and better. In addition, sewage, general effluent treatment plants, industrial waste disposal systems and roads will be improved.
