With Rishi Sunak has become Britain’s Prime Minister, world leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi said welcomed the appointment.
Congratulating him on twitter, Indian PM said that India look forward to transform the historic ties between the two countries into a modern partnership.
“Warmest congratulations @RishiSunak! As you become UK PM, I look forward to working closely together on global issues, and implementing Roadmap 2030. Special Diwali wishes to the ‘living bridge’ of UK Indians, as we transform our historic ties into a modern partnership,” he tweeted.
Sunak’s appointment is widely discussed by the news channels in India highlighting his India’s connection.
