Heavy Rain Inflict Chaos In Himachal: Death Toll Rises To 25

At least 16 people were killed and eight went missing in Himachal Pradesh after landslides and other rain-related incidents in Mandi, Kangra oand Chamba.

NEW DELHI: At least 25 people were killed in the hilly regions of the north and in the plains of the east as the region were hit hard with incessant rainfall.

Himachal Pradesh have bore the maximum brunt of nature as the heavy rains have triggered flashfloods, landslides causing house collapses and disturbing normal life across large parts of the country.

The Chakki bridge in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra also collapsed following the heavy rains on Saturday, disrupting train services between Pathankot and Jogindernagar. A series of cloudbursts killed four people on Saturday morning while 10 went missing. District administration has started rescue operation in the hill state of Uttarakhand.

Odisha have been hit hard with parts in its north receiving rains since Friday night. The prices of vegetables have shot up drastically in Bhubaneswar as the supply chain disrupted due to continuous rain.

Odisha Water Resources Chief Engineer B K Mishra said on Saturday that water levels in Subarnarekha, Budhabalang, Baitarani and Salandi are being monitored as Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj received heavy rain on the previous night.
