Housing society wall collapses in Noida, 4 dead

Noida: Atleast four people killed and several others feared trapped under the rubble after parts of a boundary wall of a housing society collapsed at Jal Vayu Vihar in sector 21 on Tuesday morning.

Officials said that 12 people pulled out of the debris while four were dead.
“Rescue operations have been launched. Fire department personnel and police, including senior officers are present at the spot,” he said. 

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences.

“The Chief Minister has directed the senior officers to reach the spot immediately and conduct relief work on a war footing,” the Chief Minister’s office tweeted.

The Chief Minister has also directed officials to ensure proper treatment of those injured in the incident, his office said. 

District magistrate Suhas LY rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.

“Rescue operation is underway. Details of the injured people are being ascertained. The area is being searched as a precautionary measure,” he told the media.  

The district magistrate said that the Noida development authority had given a contract to repair the drainage system near the apartment complex.

“We have been told that when labourers were pulling out bricks, the wall collapsed. It will be investigated,” he said. 

“Unfortunately, 4 people have died and 9 other were shifted to a hospital for treatment. NDRF and Fire Brigade teams are conducting search operation. FIR will be lodged and action will be taken: Alok Singh, Commissioner of Police, Noida told media.
