Kejriwal alleges Center of using CBI, ED to trouble everyone

NEW DELHI: AAP National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Friday alleged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) were “unnecessarily troubling everyone”. He also said that he still did not know what the liquor scam was all about.

Kejriwal expressed his deep concern over the state of affairs in the nation on Friday. He called out the central government over the misuse of the ED and CBI, terming their manhandling by the centre to be against the interests of India. He said, “Instead of coercing & coaxing CBI & ED 24×7, the Central Government should also do some positive work for the country’s development.

“I fail to understand what the alleged liquor scam actually is; CBI found nothing in their raids on Manish Sisodia. Manish Ji has stated with confidence that all the sting operations should be handed over to the CBI for investigation; if they find anything wrong by Monday, arrest him, if not, apologise. The Central Government has induced fear amongst every Indian in the name of ED-CBI, how will the nation progress like this? If someone does wrong, arrest them but by forcing the CBI-ED upon someone can’t make the country progress,” he said.

Kejriwal held a media interaction during his press conference today. During this, upon a question asked by the media on BJP’s sting operation. Kejriwal said, “Dy CM Manish Sisodia has already said that CBI investigations are going on so all such sting operations should be handed over to the CBI. Let the CBI investigate them by Monday. Four days are a lot. If something wrong is found, then arrest him and if not, then apologies to him on Monday.”

He said, “I fail to understand what the alleged liquor scam actually is. Initially, these people said that it is a scam worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore. How did a 1.5 lakh crore rupees scam happen when Delhi’s budget is only 70 thousand crore rupees? Another of their leaders claimed that there was an 8 thousand crore scam. Their third leader stated that there was a Rs 1100 crore scam.”

“At the same time, LG Sahab stated that there was a Rs 144 crore scam, and the CBI stated in its FIR that there was a one crore scam. When the CBI raided Manish Sisodia’s home, not a single penny was found. Nothing was found in his locker. The CBI officials also went to visit his village. The CBI questioned his villagers about whether Manish Ji had purchased any land. Nothing was found there either,” he added.

He concluded, “Instead of sending CBI-ED everywhere from morning to evening, I believe the central government should do some positive work for the country. How will the country progress if we do not do positive work for it? They have terrified the entire country by talking about CBI-ED for 24 hours. How will such a country develop? If someone does something wrong, catch him. However, the country will not progress if everyone is subjected to CBI-ED raids. 95% of our press conferences are about positive announcements.”

“Around 1100 students from our government schools have passed the NEET and JEE exams. It is significant that students from Delhi government schools are passing engineering and medical exams. Likewise, the centre should also do good and positive work,” he added.
