NEW DELHI:

The Kejriwal Government presented a one-of-a-kind Rozgar Budget earlier this year, focusing on job creation and redevelopment to make Delhi an attractive destination for businesses, tourists and startups through innovative policy interventions. In a bid to ensure that the people of Delhi benefit from these initiatives as soon as possible, Delhi’s Deputy CM and Finance Minister Shri Manish Sisodia held a review meeting on Saturday.

While being briefed about the execution of these policies during the meeting, Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia said, “We have to ensure that all our efforts in bringing out and implementing our decisions are not a tabletop exercise. We need to involve the different agencies and people of Delhi to ensure maximum possible benefit for the residents of Delhi.”

The Deputy Chief Minister also asked the officials to expedite the implementation of the budget policies and said that the Delhi government is committed to developing Delhi to make it realise its true potential as a global city of eminence.

“We have to work to implement our policies at a rapid pace so that there is greater job creation in Delhi. Our ambitious plan of creating 20 lac jobs in Delhi will come true when we understand the ground realities and challenges as well as the opportunities available in the National Capital,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress of a number of schemes such as the Redevelopment of Iconic Markets, Food Truck Policy, Delhi Shopping Festival, Delhi Startup Policy, Redevelopment of Delhi Food hubs, Delhi Electronic City and more.

The select committee constituted earlier in the month for the selection of markets for redevelopment, has mapped out the selection criteria. Detailed discussions have been held within the committee and market-specific studies are also being done to arrive at the best decisions.

The Kejriwal Government is involving various stakeholders such as cloud kitchen operators, industry experts and other agencies to fine-tune the details of the Delhi government’s flagship Cloud Kitchen Policy. The Food Truck policy is also being prepared at lightning speed by studying international benchmarks and in consultation with various hospitality sector experts. Plans to ensure the needs of a wide spectrum of stakeholders, and establish mechanisms for the clean and transparent allocation of spots are also underway. A key focus of the government is on boosting the night economy of Delhi through this policy.

The Delhi Shopping Festival and Wholesale Shopping Festival is another plan that has created a buzz both among businesses as well as residents of Delhi. The Delhi government is developing an action plan to streamline and operationalise the various requirements and modalities to organise Delhi’s first-ever shopping festival. The Delhi government is also working on identifying proper incentives and other support that is needed to attract manufacturers to Delhi’s first Electronic city, which will be set up in Baprola.
