Man set his bike on fire outside police post at Khan Market area, arrested

NEW DELHI: A man who was allegedly in an inebriated condition sat his bike on fire in front of a police post in Delhi’s Khan Market area on Tuesday morning.

In a video, the man is seen pelting stones and bricks at the police post and damaged the police property.

The accused has been identified as Nadeem, a resident of Hauz Rani, was arrested by the police on the spot.

“A call was received at around 7:30 am on Tuesday at Tughlak road police station informing about the incident. Police team immediately reached the spot and overpowered the accused,” said the official.

“He had damaged the police post’s window panes on the three sides’ of police post with bricks,” he said.

“A case under section 436 (mischief by fire or any explosivesubstance), 285 (negligent conduct), 278 (making atmosphere noxious tohealth), 283 (causing danger, obstruction or, injury in any public wayor line of navigation) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and3/4 prevention of damage to public property Act has been registered,” said the police.

“The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody,” he added.
