DPCC president Anil Kumar pays homage to former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit on her death anniversary

NEW DELHI: On the third death anniversary of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Congress workers, led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president  Anil Kumar paid floral tribute at her portrait on Wednesday.

A large number of Congress workers and leaders also attended a function organized at the residence of Sheila Dikshit at Nizamuddin.

On the occasion, Kumar also planted a sapling in the presence of a large number of Congress workers at the DPCC lawns as Sheila Dikshit had taken various steps to keep Delhi green and clean, and protect the environment, with her proactive policies.

Prominent among those present were Sheila Dikishit Ji’s son, ex-MP Sandeep Dikshit, Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department and ex-MLA Anil Bhardwaj, ex-MLAs Harishankar Gupta, Amrish Gautam and Jaswant Rana, Vice-Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department Parvez Alam, Dr Naresh Kumar, Delhi Sewa Dal chief organizer Sunil Kumar, Naresh Sharma Neetu, district and block presidents, and leaders of Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Sewa Dal and NSUI.

Kumar said that Delhi witnessed unprecedented development during the 15-year rule of the Congress Government, headed by Smt. Sheila Dikshit, as Congress delivered on its promises to make Delhi among the best city-States in the world. He said that the present Delhi Government was only following up the policies and schemes formulated by the Congress Government, but shelved many of the projects started by the Congress Government, for the welfare of the people and the Capital’s development.

He said that Sheila Dikshit never indulged in empty rhetoric, as she promised whet she intended to fulfill.

Kumar also said that while the Sheila Dikshit Government worked with clear-cut plans and policy initiatives, the Kejriwal Government was fooling the people with empty promises with a political agenda. He said that the Kejrwal Government has no plans for the development of Delhi as it has not fulfilled any of the promises made in its manifesto.

He said that the schools and hospitals built by the Congress Government contributed to the development of Delhi, and if Delhi could somewhat manage the Covid-19 crisis at its peak, it was only due to the infrastructure created by the Congress Government about which Chief Minister Kejriwal was now taking credit as the so-called “Delhi model”.

Kumar said that the sittings of the Delhi Assembly, where important policy decisions are taken, have become few and far between as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is mostly out of Delhi, as he has been busy interfering in the affairs of the Punjab Government and attending political functions in other States, leaving Delhiites to fend for themselves. He said that the irresponsibility of Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister is evident from the fact that he was a CM without portfolio, delegating all the responsibility to others, but wielding the actual powers in his own hands, to protect his financial fiefdom.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that like the Modi Government’s costly Central Vista project to splurge the tax payers’ money, the Kejrwial Government was planning to build a 35-storey Secretariat building to misuse the public money, which will put a Rs 1910 crore burden on the people. He said that there were many other important issues to be addressed in the Capital, but Kejriwal’s priority was on the kickbacks from the building project, despite the fact that Delhi Government was already wallowing in a Rs 38,155 debt.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that during the Congress regime, Delhi never faced unemployment, and people from all across Delhi used to come to Delhi for jobs, but there was a reverse kind of migration now, as there were no jobs to be had with all the development works having come to a total halt, and businesses having suffering losses and closures due to the regressive policies of the Kejriwal Government, which never extended any help when the Covid-19 pandemic ruined the economy, businesses, created unprecedented unemployment and snatched people’s livelihoods.

He said that rising unemployment and soaring prices of all essential goods have made the lives of the common people miserable while Kejriwal and his Ministers were enjoying all the fruits of power.
