NEW DELHI: Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh inducted two seasoned Congress leaders, Shri Ravi Naikar and Shri Surender Sawariya into the Aam Aadmi Party today. The move can be seen as a massive blow to Congress before the Rajinder Nagar by-polls. He said that leaders are joining the AAP because they are highly impressed by the working style of Aam Aadmi Party and the Kejriwal Government’s Delhi Model.

Ravi Naikar was Vice President, Karol Bagh Congress Committee before joining AAP, he is also Vice-President of Tamil Association, Delhi and was General Secretary of Youth Congress & JJ Cell. Shri Surender Sawariya was President of SC/ST Cell, Rajinder Nagar and currently is the Secretary of Khatik Samaj. Sanjay Singh said that party workers are working hard to involve experienced leaders in AAP’s movement of serving the citizens and he is assured of Durgesh Pathak’s win. Shri Ravi Naikar said that he is highly impressed by the Arvind Kejriwal Government’s work and confident of Shri Durgesh Pathak’s victory in upcoming by-elections.

Singh boosted the morale of party workers who are working day and night to bring another victory in a series of victories in the Legislative Assembly by-elections. He said that AAP is a movement which is committed to serve the citizens and people are getting associated with the movement on a huge scale. He is assured of AAP victory in the upcoming elections after witnessing the Party’s build-up for the D-Day. He said, “Elections campaign for by-elections on Rajinder Nagar constituency for Legislative Assembly is in full swing. Seasoned leaders with vast experience of working for different parties, whether it is BJP or Congress, are heavily impressed by the policies and working style of Aam Aadmi Party.

The Kejriwal Government has given a new Development Model to Delhi with remarkable progress in the field of Education, Health, Electricity and Water supply which influenced them to take party’s membership in recent days.”

The two leaders, Ravi Naikar and Surender Sawariya took the membership in an auspicious gathering of senior AAP leaders headed by Shri Sanjay Singh. Shri Singh expressed his gratitude to the leaders and other party workers for their efforts. He said, “Today we here to induct two such leaders in our party, Ravi Naikar, the erstwhile Vice-President, Karol Bagh Congress Committee and Vice-President of Tamil Association, Delhi. He has also held the posts of General Secretary of Youth Congress and General Secretary of JJ Cell, Karol Bagh.

He was also one of the prospective candidates to contest election for Congress Party from Rajinder Nagar constituency. Today, he is going to become part of the AAP family. Another leader is Surender Sawariya who is the Ex-President of SC/ST Cell, Rajinder Nagar and currently Secretary of Khatik Community. I want to extend my deep gratitude to Shri N Raja, Shri Pradeep Sharma, Shri Mohan Lal, and Shri Vikas Goel, who was the leader of Opposition in North MCD whose efforts made it possible for them to join the AAP. I want to give them a warm welcome with an open heart.”     

On this occasion, Ravi Naikar, in response to the question asked by a journalist regarding joining AAP and leaving Congress, expressed his satisfaction and happiness in the work done by the Kejriwal Government and showed optimism in Durgesh Pathak who is AAP’s candidate for by-elections for Rajinder Nagar Constituency. He said, “I am highly impressed by the CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s work in Delhi. Durgesh Pathak is contesting in the elections for Rajinder Nagar Constituency is a passionate and energetic leader. I felt that I should support his candidature because he is the right person to work for the welfare of the residents of Rajinder Nagar.

The youth is coming forward to support him. The party has done great work in improving the conditions of schools and hospitals in Delhi which makes me proud as a citizen of Delhi. This gave me clarity as to who I should be supporting and I took this decision. I am quite happy here.”
