Train services between India and Bangladesh restored after two-year gap

After an over two-year gap due to the pandemic, passenger train services between India and Bangladesh resumed on Sunday

While flagging off of Bandhan Express from Kolkata station on way to Khulna in the neighbouring country, an Eastern Railway (ER) official said that the Maitree Express is also scheduled to resume services between Kolkata and Dhaka on Sunday.

“After resumption of train services between India and Bangladesh, Bandhan Express train leaving Kolkata Terminal for its journey to Khulna this morning (29.5.2022),” Eastern Railways tweeted.

In another tweet, it said “After the COVID restrictions are relaxed, Maitree and Bandhan Express trains between India & Bangladeh  have resumed services, from today. Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express train leaving Kolkata Terminal this morning (29.5.2022).”
