NEW DELHI:

The Congress and the BJP hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on Sunday.

The incident occurred a day after the state’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government withdrew the security of some 420 people, including Moose Wala.

Opposition parties slammed AAP government over the law & order. The BJP on Sunday blamed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The party said that the Punjab is being governed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal through a remote control.

Addressing the media, party spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that the secret list which had the names of those whose security was removed was made public.

“In a way, it was an open invitation to murderers, that you can do you work … Arvind Kejriwal is responsible for this murder,” Patra said.

The Congress on Sunday sought the dismissal of the AAP government in Punjab over the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The party said that the present government has lost the moral authority to govern.

Targeting the AAP government, former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that the law and order have collapsed in Punjab and criminals no longer fear law.

“Brutal murder of Sidhu Moosewala is shocking. My profound condolences to the bereaved family. Law and order has completely collapsed in Punjab. Criminals have no fear of law. @AAPPunjab government has miserably failed. Nobody is safe in Punjab!,” the former Chief Minister tweeted.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said he was deeply shocked and saddened by the “murder of promising Congress leader and talented artist, Sidhu Moosewala”.

My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and fans from across the world,” Gandhi said.

“Deeply shocked and saddened by the murder of promising Congress leader and talented artist, Sidhu Moosewala. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and fans from across the world,” he tweeted.

Congress’ chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also expressed deep shock at the “broad daylight murder” of Moosewala.

“Deeply shocked at the broad day light murder of Sidhu Moosewala. Punjab & Punjabis across the world have lost a talented artist with mass connect, who could feel people’s pulse. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and fans across the world,” he tweeted.

Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill said Moose Wala was killed in “a shootout”.

“Shocking to hear about death of #sidhumoosewala in a shootout-not sharing the videos received via WhatsApp due to sensitivity but shot at many times,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he said, “Since AAP has come to power in Punjab, law&order has seen a downward trend: >Broad-daylight murders > Violent clashes in Patiala > RPG attack on Punjab Police >Sidhu Moosewala Shot dead. Law & Order crumbling like pack of cards in AAP regime-Bhagwant Mann must respond.”

“The murder of Shri Sidhu Moose Wala, Congress candidate from Punjab & a talented musician, has come as a terrible shock to the Congress party & the entire nation. Our deepest condolences to his family, fans & friends. We stand united & undeterred, at this time of extreme grief,” the Congress tweeted.

In a series of tweets, Manjinder Sirsa said, “How did such a sensitive document of Punjab government become public!! I demand strict action against those who leaked a confidential list of people whose security was withdrawn by Govt of Punjab. First, you withdrew security & then you make them vulnerable by leaking their names!”

“We have been warning Punjab Govt to pay attention to Punjab’s situation. I demand an FIR against Bhagwant Mann for negligence of his Chief Ministerial duties which has cost the life of #sidhumoosewala. Bhagwant Mann along with @ArvindKejriwalshould be booked u/s 302 @ANI,” he said in another tweet.
